* = highly recommended! ana = source is analog cassette tape cd = source is cd-r cd import = i own this on an import cd, always first generation vid = source is video tape (vhs) ? = not totally sure on source NEW ARRIVALS: * means it's my recommendation I am in the process of adding the time's to all the bootlegs on my list. They aren't all there yet, but will be soon... All time's for bootlegs are off no more than 5 minutes. If there is a ? next to anything (source or time), it means I am unsure or was never told was it was. If you would like to know I can either figure it out or make my best guess to tell you what I think it sounds like it was. (these setlists are based on my recordings, and how i choose to list the songs. you may find more or less complete recordings other places on the net, but these are what I have. i try to make the sets and notes as complete as i can, but if you have any questions, never hesitate to email me and ask. Raging Day@aol.com) 10/5/88 Chicago, IL: Cabaret Metro there it goes / she / my eternity / under your spell / bleed / spiteface / nothing and everything Notes: This was the first show played with Jimmy. It is also the earliest known bootleged Smashing Pumpkins live performance to be in circulation. They opened for Jane's Addiction. This show is often mistaken for 4/10/88. This CD was burned from a copy of CR-05, the gift CD given out by the Pumpkins to fans at the final show. Quality: B+ / 35 min. / cd - Audience Recording. 11/23/88 Chicago, IL: Cabaret Metro* oui henri / under your spell / my eternity / there it goes / time has come today (cut) Notes: This is probably the best quality recording I've ever heard for a really early Pumpkins concert; too bad the show is cut. Time Has Come Today is a Chambers Brothers song. Quality: A / ? min. / cd - DAT recording 3/16/89 Chicago, IL: WZRD Radio* venus in furs / snap (if i could) / my eternity / east / cinnamon girl / there it goes / nothing and everything / under your spell / rhinoceros / sun / spiteface Notes: This is my favorite pre-Gish era show. They are performing on a radio station and talking with the DJ between songs. The sound quality is perfect...Venus in Furs is a Velvet Underground cover, and Cinnamon Girl is a Neil Young cover. Quality: A / ? min. / ana - Radio Broadcast 4/30/89 Chicago, IL: Cabaret Metro venus in furs / snap (if i could) / rhinoceros / alabaster / east / cinnamon girl / psychedelic / sun (cut) Notes: Another really good sounding show that is unfortunately cut. Alabaster is really cool, and the only live Psychedelic I've ever heard. Quality: A / ? min. / cd - DAT recording 6/16/90 Madison, WI: Club de Wash tristessa / snail / rhinoceros / i am one / honey spider / try to try / razor Notes: I think that Window Paine is missing from my copy of this show. Very early versions of some Gish tunes. Tristessa is really slow, and Snail is a really different cool version. Quality: B / 27 min. / ana - DAT 9/13/90 Cincinnati, OH: Shorty's Underground tristessa (cut) / snail / rhinoceros / bury me / i am one / window paine / razor / suffer / unknown / over you / siva Notes: Not as great sounding as some of the other early shows I have, but cool to hear an unknown song and Over You, which I have never seen anywhere else. The beginning of Tristessa is cut on all copies. Quality: B- / ? min. / cd - Audience Recording. 12/31/90 Chicago, IL: Cabaret Metro suffer / blue / tristessa / rhinoceros / bury me / i am one / window paine / snail / slunk / siva Notes: Really nice sounding show...the band doesn't say anything though (except billy wishes the crowd happy new year). Suffer has slightly different lyrics. Quality: B+ / 50 min. / ana - DAT 2/8/91 Hoboken, NJ: Maxwell's tristessa / slunk / rhinoceros / bury me / i am one / window paine / siva / godzilla Notes: Godzilla is a really cool Blue Oyster Cult Cover. Quality: B / 45 min. / ana - DAT 2/9/91 Cambridge, MA: T.T. the Bears slunk / siva / rhinoceros / bury me / i am one / window paine / snail / out of focus / tristessa / godzilla Notes: This is a 2nd generation from the CD 'Tribute to B.O.C.' Out of Focus is a Blue Cheer song. Quality: B / 45 min. / ana - cd import 2/12/91 New York City, NY: CBGB's siva / slunk / rhinoceros / bury me / i am one / window paine / snail / out of focus / tristessa Notes: This boot is from the CD import 'Party All Night". Quality: B / 43 min. / cd import - 1st generation 6/22/91 Chicago, IL: Reckless Records (video) drown / rocket / siva / smiley / jesus loves his babies / blue / window paine Notes: A little watery looking, but what can you expect from the 1st Pumpkins show to be captured on video. Quality: Aud and Vid: B / 26 min. / vid - Amateur Shot. 6/23/91 Chicago, IL: Rose Records blue / terrapin / smiley / siva / crush / bury me Notes: Acousitc. Terrapin is a Syd Barrett cover. Quality: B+ / ? min. / ana - Audience Recording 7/12/91 Philadelphia, PA: Kyber Pass Pub i am my end / tristessa / rocket / bury me / snail / siva / out of focus / drown / silverfuck (cut) / i am one / terrapin Notes: I Am My End is often referred to as 'When You Die Inside". Quality: C / 55 min. / ana - Audience Recording. 7/15/91 New York City, NY: CBGB's (video) rocket / tristessa / rhinoceros / bury me / siva / snail / i am one / window paine Notes: Kind of a dark venue, but a nice Gish video. Quality: Aud and Vid: B / 42 min. / vid - Amateur Shot. 7/19/91 Providence, RI: Club Babyhead rocket / tristessa / rhinoceros (fast version) / bury me / siva / drown / slunk / i am my end / snail / window paine / i am one Notes: Rhinoceros is a different, more upbeat version then normal. Quality: B- / 62 min. / ana - Audience Recording. 7/21/91 New Haven, CT: The Moon rocket / tristessa / what you wanted / rhinoceros / bury me / siva / suffer / blue / purr snickety / snail / i am one / out of focus / silverfuck Notes: Purr Snickety replaces the seven dreams part of Snail. The beginning of Blue is cut off. The early version of Silverfuck sounds a lot slower and less distorted than usual. What You Wanted is a song that is most likely called 'STP', but I'm not too sure. Quality: C+ / 70 min. / ana - Audience Recording. 7/31/91 New York City, NY: Danceteria rocket / tristessa / rhinoceros / bury me / siva / suffer / what you wanted / snail / i am one / silverfuck Notes: Another good early gish show, great to hear Suffer and What You Wanted. Sound is typical of an early show, Audience Recording of course. 52 min. / cd - Audience Recording. 8/17/91 San Francisco, CA: Rough Trade Records (video) * blue / siva / smiley / suffer / crush / bury me Notes: This is an all acoustic set that they played earlier in the day, before the I-Beam show. I own a first generation copy of this video, so the picture and sound are really good. Audio: A / Video: A / 30 min. / vid - Amateur Shot, 1st generation 8/17/91 San Francisco, CA: I-Beam rocket / tristessa / window paine / bury me / siva / snail / what you wanted / i am one / suffer / silverfuck / out of focus / terrapin Notes: This is a 2nd Gen. from the CD 'Out of Focus'. Quality: A- / ? min. / ana - Soundboard. 8/20/91 Seattle, WA: Backstage Tavern rocket / tristessa / window paine / bury me / siva / snail / i am one / silverfuck / what you wanted / when you die inside / terrapin Notes: This boot is from the CD import 'Virgins'. This show is sometimes mistaken for 8/28/91, and the Offramp Cafe, personally I'm not really sure. I think they played Rhinoceros after Terrapin also. Quality: A / 63 min. / cd import - Soundboard. 9/1/91 Rotterdam, Netherlands: De Doerlen (video) rocket / tristessa / window paine / bury me / siva / silverfuck Notes: Very good picture for a Gish show...I think they were opening of for the Chili Peppers at this point. Quality: Aud: B / Vid: A- / 37 min. / vid - Amateur Video. 9/??/91 London, England: Hotel Room * drown / suffer / la dolly vita / obscured / snail Notes: The actual date of this boot is unknown. This is just Billy solo acoustic playing for an interviewer. This show was originally aired on some english radio station. "Hotel Room" is the only way I've heard the venue referred to as, I don't think it's actually known. Quality: B+ / ? min. / ana - Radio Broadcast. 10/22/91 Milwaukee, WI: Atomic Records blue / siva / smiley / suffer Notes: Acoustic. Kind of quiet sounding. This is and incomplete recording, it's missing a couple of songs, but I haven't been able to find a complete copy anywhere. Quality: A- / 23 min. / aud - Audience Recording. 10/23/91 East Lansing, MI: Michigan State University what you wanted / rocket / tristessa / window paine / siva / silverfuck Notes: Quality: B- / ? min. / ana - Audience Recording. 10/30/91 Toronto, Canada: Concert Hall rocket / tristessa / rhinoceros / bury me / siva / window paine / i am one Notes: Quality: B / 40 min. / cd - Audience Recording. 11/2/91 Burlington, VT: Memorial Hall what you wanted / rocket / tristessa / window paine / bury me / siva / snail / silverfuck (cut) Notes: Quality: B / 45 min. / cd - Audience Recording. 11/3/91 Springfield, MA: Civic Center rocket / tristessa / window paine / i am one / siva / drown / silverfuck Notes: Quality: B / 40 min. / ana - Audience Recording. 11/8/91 Upper Darby, PA: Tower Theater siva / enter sandman (tease) / i am one / silverfuck Notes: Pretty sure this is an incomplete show, but I've never heard the whole setlist so I'm not sure. Quality: ? / 21 min. / cd - Audience Recording. 12/12/91 Norman, OK: Hollywood Theater (video) rocket / tristessa / bury me (abandoned) / bury me / window paine / siva / snail Notes: Quality: Aud: A- Vid: B+ / ? min. / vid - Amateur Shot. 12/17/91 Los Angeles, CA: Whiskey A Go Go rocket / bury me / window paine / snail / siva / drown / i am one / crush / silverfuck Notes: This boot is from the CD import 'Daydream Kisses'. Quality: A / 57 min. / cd import - Soundboard. 12/??/91 Unknown Place and Venue Interview Notes: This is an interview with Billy and Jimmy, the exact date is unknown. This interview is on a CD that came with the Jim Staplton book. Quality: A / 28 min. / cd import - Radio Broadcast. 12/28/91 Portland, OR: Portland Underground (video) rocket / bury me / window paine / bye june / tristessa / snail / blue / siva / luna / i am one Notes: Great show, unfortunatly, every song is cut in some way. Quality: Aud and Vid: B / 34 min. / vid - Amateur Shot. 1/15/92 Hilversum, Holland: VPRO Radio snail / siva / interview / crush / silverfuck (cut) Notes: The interview is with Billy. Quality: A / 28 min. / ana - Radio Broadcast. 1/17/92 Brussels, Belgium: BxL rocket / bury me / window paine / tristessa / snail / siva / drown / i am one / crush / silverfuck / slunk / girl named sandoz Notes: Quality: C+ / 73 min. / ana - Audience Recording. 1/18/92 Eindhoven, Holland: Effenaar rocket / tristessa / window paine / bury me / snail / siva / slunk / luna / i am one / silverfuck / smoke on the water (tease) / crush / girl named sandoz / bye june / blue / i am my end / offer up Notes: Offer Up is a song that the Pumpkins wrote 2 versions of. This is the super rocking version. They also play a mellower version that usually ends up as an intro to Silverfuck. Smoke on the Water is just a quick tease of the Deep Purple song. Live Bye June!! Quality: B / 90 min. / ana - Audience Recording. 1/19/92 Den Haag, Holland: The Hague suffer / rocket / bury me / snail / tristessa / window paine / siva / luna / i am one / crush / silverfuck / rhinoceros / blue / girl named sandoz Notes: This boot is from the CD import 'Rawk'. I've heard the venue referred to as the Trojan Horse, and the Paard, so I'm not really sure. This is one of the weirdest boots there is...it's kind of sped up a little, so Billy's voice sounds just slightly higher pitched than normal. I believe all copies are this way. They played Slunk before I Am One on the real show. Quality: B+ / 76 min. / cd import - DAT. 1/26/92 Berlin, Germany: The Loft rocket / bury me / window paine / snail / tristessa / luna / siva / slunk / offer up (mellow) / silverfuck / crush / i am one / i am my end / offer up Notes: Another rockin' early '92 show, both versions of Offer Up are played! Quality: B / 80 min. / ana - Audience Recording. 1/28/92 Cologne, Germany: Luxor (video)* slunk / rocket / tristessa / window paine / snail / siva / luna / bury me / offer up (mellow) (partial) / silverfuck / crush / i am one / offer up / enter sandman-paranoid (teases) Notes: My favorite Gish video. The sound is muffled for the first half of Slunk, then it gets good. Enter Sandman and Paranoid are just short teases of songs that Billy plays. Quality: Aud and Vid: B+ / 70 min. / vid - Amateur Shot. 2/5/92 Paris, France: Elysee Montmarte slunk / window paine / siva / offer up (mellow) / silverfuck / star spangled banner (tease) / jam Notes: Really powerful show, not the greatest sound though. Looking for an upgrade. Quality: B / 23 min. / cd - Audience Recording. 2/11/92 Birmingham, England: Edward's No. 8 (video) rocket / tristessa / slunk / window paine / bury me / snail / siva / silverfuck Notes: Amateur Shot from the right side of the stage. Very nice close-ups. Audio: B+ / Video: B+ / 55 min. / vid - Amateur Shot. 2/14/92 London, England: Astoria Theater rocket / tristessa / window paine / bury me / snail / siva / luna / i am one / slunk / offer up (mellow) / silverfuck Notes: This CD has faults due to a shitty CD-r. I might be able to make a tape of it, but I've never been able to successfully burn a copy. Quality: B / 67 min. / cd - Audience Recording. 3/28/92 Chicago, IL: Cabaret Metro (video or audio) window paine (w/eddie vedder) / i've got a feeling (w/pearl jam) Notes: Classic performance on stage with Pearl Jam! Unfortunatly the audio and video copies i have aren't that great, but good for filler! Audio and video copes: C / ? min. / ana - Audience / vid - Amateur. 6/9/92 Milwaukee, WI: The Unicorn * rocket / slunk / disarm / happy birthday jimmy / the joker / tristessa / plume / frail and bedazzled / drown / bury me / siva / luna / snail / i am one / bullet train to osaka / offer up (mellow) / silverfuck Notes: Jimmy's birthday is on June 10th, so they sing him happy birthday. The Joker is a Steve Miller Band cover. Frail and Bedazzled is a very early version with very different lyrics. After I Am One, Billy says he fried his amp, so they play Bullet Train, and Offer Up (mellow version), which are some really cool rarities. Quality: C+ / 75 min. / ana - Audience Recording. 7/11/92 Chicago, IL: Blackout Records disarm / rocket / obscured / blue / luna / siva / hummer (cut) Notes: Acoustic. Very well performed acoustic show for the Gish era, too bad Hummer gets cut off. Quality: B+ / 30 min. / ana - Audience Recording 8/5/92 Miami, FL: Washington Square (video) disarm / hello kitty kat / bury me / luna / tristessa / rocket / window paine / snail / siva / drown / slunk (partial) / i am one / offer up (mellow) / silverfuck / when you wish upon a star (tease) / hummer Notes: Another very nice and clear Gish video. The crowd seems to be into the music quite a bit. When you wish upon a star is acapella by Billy. Quality: Aud and Vid: A- / 90 min. / vid - Amateur Shot. 8/10/92 Nashville, TN: 328 Performance Hall starla / bury me / the joker / hello kitty kat / tristessa / window paine / geek u.s.a. / snail / siva / drown / i am one / daydream / silverfuck / star spangled banner Notes: Geek u.s.a. is slightly different then the Siamese Dream version. A live Daydream is a very big surprise, and the Star Spangled Banner is quite funny. Quality: C+ / 85 min. / ana - Audience Recording. 8/23/92 London, England: Greater London Radio* rocket / dance of the dwarves / spaceboy Notes: Really cool show, one of the few acoustic sets done in 1992. Dances of the Dwarves is a really funny little ditty about taking Vicodin that James plays. Just Billy and James acoustic, perfect sound. Quality: A / 8 min. / cd - Radio Broadcast. 8/29/92 Reading, England: Reading Festival (video) bury me / siva Notes: Incomplete. Quality: Aud and Vid: A / 9 min. / vid - Pro Shot. 9/2/92 Berlin, Germany: The Loft stonehenge / luna / geek u.s.a. / rocket / bury me / disarm / hello kitty kat / window paine / tristessa / spaceboy / siva / hummer / i am one / lookout loretta / drown (abandoned) / the end (tease) / drown / when you wish upon a star / silverfuck (cut) Notes: Stonehenge is a short cover of a Spinal Tap song. Geek u.s.a. and Hummer are very different then the album versions. The End is a tease of the Doors song, and Lookout Loretta is a really rocking song. Quality: B- / ? min. / ana - Audience Recording. 9/3/92 Frankfurt, Germany: Batschkapp rhinoceros / geek u.s.a. / rocket / bury me / disarm / hello kitty kat / unknown / siva / drown / tristessa / window paine / i am one / lookout loretta / silverfuck / star spangled banner (tease) Notes: The unknown song is a super cool jam that seems more like a seperate song than the usual Siva intro. During the quiet part of Silverfuck, Billy gets out some of his aggression and anger towards their german audience, which leads to quite a chaotic rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. Quality: B+ / ? min. / ana - Audience Recording. 9/4/92 Dusseldorf, Germany: Tor 3 (video) today / geek u.s.a. / rocket / bury me / spaceboy / tristessa / hello kitty kat / your whore / siva / hummer / slunk / starla / i am one / lookout loretta Notes: Your Whore and Lookout Loretta are songs that I'm not sure were played very much. This video has the cheesiest but cool special effects I've ever seen. Quality: Aud: B- Vid: B / ? min. / vid - Semi-Pro Shot (2 cameras). 9/6/92 Werchter, Belgium: Metropolis Festival geek u.s.a. / rocket / bury me / window paine / tristessa / siva / hummer / i am one / silverfuck / slunk (funk version) / the joker Notes: Geek u.s.a. is introduced as a new song called "The Kiss". The funk version of Slunk is really cool, but is unfortunatly abandoned. Great quality for an audience recording in the Gish tour. Quality: A- / ? min. / ana - Audience Recording. 9/8/92 Paris, France: Espace Orano disarm / rocket / hello kitty kat / bury me / window paine / spaceboy / geek u.s.a. / tristessa / snail / i am one / drown / siva / offer up (mellow) / silverfuck / when you wish upon a star>jam (tease) Notes: One of the best quality shows I have from the Gish era. Both versions of Offer Up are played. For some reason, the same version of Offer Up is recorded again at the end of the disc. Quality: A / 85 min. / cd - DAT. 9/??/92 London, England: BBC Late Show rhinoceros Notes: The date of this performance is unknown. Rhinoceros is very abbreviated, there is almost no solo at all. Quality: A / 4 min. / cd - Soundboard. 12/1/92 Atlanta, GA: The Point luna / hello kitty kat / quiet / disarm / rocket / cherub rock / hummer / frail and bedazzled / soma (cut) / geek u.s.a. (end) / spaceboy / unknown / silverfuck / i am one / starla / mayonaise Notes: The last show of the spectacular Gish tour! All these Siamese Dream songs are early versions, many with slightly different lyrics. The unknown song sounds like maybe a cool intro to Silverfuck, but seems a little more like a developed song. Quality: C / 85 min. / ana - Audience Recording. 3/15/93 Atlanta, GA: Center Stage bury me / quiet / cherub rock / rhinoceros / hello kitty kat / spaceboy / i am one / geek u.s.a. / soma / disarm / siva / the end (tease) / drown / frail and bedazzled / hummer / i feel you / tristessa / silverfuck (cut) Notes: This show was 1st to be captured by a bootlegger during 1993. The band was still in the studio recording Siamese Dream, and many of the songs aren't completely developed yet. The End is a partial cover of the Doors song. I Feel You is a short cover of the Depeche Mode song that James sings. Quality: B- / 86 min. / ana - Audience Recording. 6/22/93 London, England: Mtv's Most Wanted cherub rock / disarm / rocket / spaceboy Notes: Acoustic. You should recognize this performance as the Cherub Rock that was used on Vieuphoria. Rocket has the Gish Era (alternate) lyrics. Quality: A / 15 min. / ana - Soundboard. 6/29/93 Paris, France: Studio 10S * rocket / cherub rock / rhinoceros / today / spaceboy / siva / dancing in the moonlight / disarm / suffer (cut) / hummer / drown / kooks / luna Notes: This is a great all acoustic show that I own on a CD import called 'Spaceboy'. The end of Suffer is cut off. Dancing in the Moonlight is a beautiful Thin Lizzy cover. The last 4 songs are on an audio tape, but the rest is 1st gen. from CD import. Quality: A / ? min. / cd/ana - Soundboard/Radio Broadcast. 6/30/93 Hilversum, Holland: VPRO Radio, Villa 65 rocket / cherub rock / today / disarm / spaceboy / dancing in the moonlight Notes: Acoustic. This version of Dancing in the Moonlight was so good, they put it on the Disarm single (heart). Quality: A / 23 min. / ana - Soundboard/Radio Broadcast. 7/23/93 Milwaukee, WI: The Unicorn* cherub rock / quiet / today / rocket / i am one / soma / dancing in the moonlight / window paine blues / geek u.s.a. / mayonaise / hummer / siva / star spangled banner-jam (tease) Notes: One of my favorite early SD era shows. The Window Paine blues is so cool, and one of the 2 electric Dancing in the Moonlight's i've ever heard. Quality: B / 71 min. / ana - Audience Recording. 7/26/93 Chicago, IL: Tower Records rocket / cherub rock / today / mayonaise / hummer Notes: Acoustic. This was broadcast on the radio in Chicago. Quality: A / 25 min. / cd import - Soundboard. 8/14/93 Chicago, IL: Cabaret Metro rocket / quiet / today / rhinoceros / geek u.s.a. / i am one / disarm / cherub rock / hummer / silverfuck / mayonaise Notes: This boot is from the CD import '3 Feet High'. The actual show was much longer, but on the CD I have of it, they cut a bunch of songs out. Quality: A / 60 min. / cd import - Soundboard. 8/14/93 Chicago, IL: Cabaret Metro (video)* today / cherub rock / siva / mayonaise / disarm / quiet Notes: This is obviously not the whole show. But perfect picture and great performance makes it one of my favorites. Quality: Aud and Vid: A / 31 min. / vid - Pro Shot. 8/24/93 Stockholm, Sweeden: The Melody today / snail / disarm / rocket / soma / cherub rock / drown (cut) Notes: Silverfuck is missing from this recording. Quality: B+ / ? min. / ana - Soundboard. 8/27/93 Dronten, Belgium: Lowlands Paradise Festival siva / disarm / geek u.s.a. / drown / i am one / cherub rock / silverfuck Notes: Siva is just the ending. Today is missing from my copy. Quality: A / 40 min. / cd import "disarm the pumpkins" - Soundboard. 9/15/93 London, England: Manchester Academy rocket / quiet / today / disarm / bury me / hummer Notes: This show finishes the 2nd half of the 'Spaceboy' boot. Really cool versions of Bury Me and Hummer. Quality: A / 22 min. / cd import - Soundboard. 10/5/93 Minneapolis, MN: First Avenue Club quiet / today / disarm / i am one / hummer / soma / siva / cherub rock / starla / pissant / silverfuck / sweet sweet Notes: This boot is from the CD import 'Feeling Like A Smashed Pumpkin'. Cut from this show are Rocket, Geek U.S.A., and Spaceboy. Sweet Sweet is acapella. Quality: A / 70 min. / cd import - Soundboard. 10/18/93 San Francisco, CA: The Warfield rocket / geek u.s.a. / today / disarm / i am one / spaceboy / quiet / hummer / soma / siva / cherub rock / drown / silverfuck Notes: Quality: B+ / 86 min. / ana - DAT. 10/??/93 London, England: Mtv's 120 Minutes (audio or video) cherub rock / rocket / disarm / today Notes: Exact date is unknown. Really nice sounding performance, the audio is on a CD import, 1st generation, A Quality. The video is pro shot by Mtv, Aud: A- Vid: A Sounds a little thin, but video is cool, shot in Black and White. 15 min. 10/30/93 New York City, NY: Saturday Night Live (audio or video) cherub rock / today Notes: I own this on audio and video. Quality (either one): A / 8 min. / cd import - vid - Soundboard/TV Brodacast. 12/9/93 Chicago, IL: Aragon Ballroom (video) today / disarm / drown / cherub rock Notes: This is not the complete show. You may recognize this show as the performance of Today as seen on Vieuphoria. Audio and Video Quality: A- / ? min. / vid - Pro shot. 12/11/93 Cincinnati, OH: Bogart's * soma / rocket / geek u.s.a. / disarm / today / siva / bury me / rhinoceros / snail / tristessa (abandoned) / window paine blues / drown / hummer / cherub rock / quiet / pissant / starla / spaceboy / i am one (cut) Notes: The last show of the first leg of the Siamese Dream tour. Really awesome show, Billy says they're going to play everything! Tristessa is abandoned in the first verse because Billy forgets the lyrics. Window Paine Blues is a really cool jazzy version of the regular Window Paine. This show is cut, and I don't know what songs they played after I Am One. I don't think a complete copy of this show even exists, but if anyone knows about one, let me know! Quality: B / 90 min. / ana - Audience Recording. 12/12/93 Los Angeles, CA: Shrine Auditorium rocket / cherub rock / today / disarm / spaceboy / rudolph the red-nosed reindeer / hummer Notes: This was an acoustic show played for KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas. I'm not sure of the venue either, it might actually be the Universal Amphitheater. There is a cello player on the whole thing which makes the songs sound really wierd and cool, especially Cherub Rock. Rudolph is a really funny pumpkins version of the classic song. Quality: A / ? min. / cd import - Soundboard/Radio. 2/21/94 Munich, Germany: Albamhalle (video) rocket / quiet / today / drown / hummer / geek u.s.a. / soma / siva / silverfuck Notes: You may recognize this show as what Geek U.S.A. was taken from for Vieuphoria. This show originally aired on German TV. They played Disarm and Cherub Rock before Rocket. Audio: A / Video: A- / 45 min. / vid - Professionally Shot. 2/25/94 London, England: Astoria Theater * rocket / quiet / today / disarm / i am one / hummer (cut) / geek u.s.a. / spaceboy / siva / cherub rock / luna / starla / never let me down / silverfuck Notes: This boot is a 2nd generation from the CD import 'Astoria '94'. Never Let Me Down is a Depeche Mode cover, and is a little different than the studio version. Quality: A / 76 min. / ana - Soundboard. 2/26/94 London, England: Astoria Theater (video) soma / disarm / today / i am one / cherub rock Notes: This is not the whole show. This is the concert that Soma was taken from for Vieuphoria. A little fuzzy, otherwise great. Quality: Aud and Vid: A- / 25 min. / vid - Pro Shot. 3/4/94 Barcelona, Spain: Sala Apolo (video) rocket / quiet / today / disarm / i am one / soma / cherub rock / silverfuck (cut) Notes: This is the show that I Am One was taken from for Vieuphoria. Has some sound and picture flaws near beginning. Quality: Aud and Vid: A- / 42 min. / vid - Pro Shot. 3/24/94 Carbondale, IL: SIU Arena (video) soma / rocket / geek u.s.a. / disarm / today / quiet / i am one / drown / hummer / siva / i just wanna make love to you (tease) / cherub rock / spaceboy / silverfuck / never let me down / all that she wants-the sign (teases) / frail and bedazzled / silverfuck (continued) / sweet sweet Notes: Not the greatest video, but a cool setlist though. Never Let Me Down, the Ace of Base teases, and Frail and Bedazzled take place after the 'bang, bang' part of Silverfuck. It's a really cool early version, and they screw it up once before getting it right. The instrumental is a really cool intro to Silverfuck that contains parts of Suffer. Never Let Me Down is really cool to hear again too. Unfortunatly the guy who traded me this put it on a crappy CDR, so I can only make tapes of it. "Starchildren", the Pumpkins side project were: All 4 Pumpkins, Neil Jendon, Kerry Brown, and special guest appearance by the the Frogs. Many of these songs are covers, and the 2 Pumpkins songs are very different versions. The middle of Junkie See is cut out because the guy recording it had to take a piss. TOO BAD IT'S NOT COMPLETE! I've been to Shoreline, there's a huge picture in a nice frame in one of the halls with a picture of Billy onstage at Lollapallooza. At the bottom it said "Smashing Pumpkins - August 27, 1994". Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to have this much of the show. But all this is is the 1st set they played. Suppossedly the Pumpkins played a second set that night on another stage. Here's the 2nd set (to my knowledge, might not be in right order, a friend told it to me): daydream / hello kitty kat / slunk / pissant / snail / frail and bedazzled / plume / window paine / dancing in the moonlight / tristessa / starla So you can probably tell why I've been looking harder for this show than any other since I started trading. Anybody ever find it - please drop me a line. I've heard that the Pumpkins quite often would perform a second set on a separate stage at some of the Lollapallooza shows, too bad no one's got any of them on tape. Live Plume and Daydream are really cool to here. Concerto in C minor is a hilarious jam that Billy and James do, which includes teases of "Voodoo Chile", and "Fantastic Voyage". Fly By Night is some cover James does. This is a great show! The pumpkins are a hilarious mood. It's been dubbed the name "Sequence Four" for reasons unknown to me. Basically this is just what these 6 songs sounded like as of June 6th. Mellon Collie sounds really cool, it has a lot more atmosphere then the one that ended up on the record. Bullet is instrumental. During the first couple months of the Infinite Sadness tour, the Pumpkins played a handful of half acoutic, half electric (cyber-metal) shows. The sets consisted of just about all the songs you see here at each show, in a similar order. They'd play about 7 acoustic songs, in their pajamas, and then 2 or 3 acoustic sounding electric songs before they took intermission. At which point they'd change into their regular (rock star) clothes and Mellon Collie is played from the album. The rest of the show is electric, and most shows ended with a 20-30 minute rendition of Silverfuck that was different each time. This boot is actually sourced from 2 different recordings. For most of the show the songs are soundboard, but the parts between songs are DAT. Then at the end a few of the songs are DAT. Quality: A-/B / 117 min. / ana - multiple sources (soundboard/dat). 1/6/96 Washington D.C.: The 9:30 Club (video) * tonight, tonight / in the arms of sleep / cupid de locke / thirty-three / today / lily (my one and only) / take me down / beautiful / rocket / disarm / mellon collie and the infinite sadness / where boys fear to tread / zero / fuck you (an ode to no one) / to forgive / jellybelly / porcelina of the vast oceans / bullet with butterfly wings / thru the eyes of ruby / 1979 / geek u.s.a. / cherub rock / we only come out at night / x.y.u. / boys don't cry / by starlight / silverfuck jam Notes: The Silverfuck Jam is always different. The only thing that really remains consistent is a few basic ideas, and the Silverfuck lyrics. There's also a new really great line Billy sings in the SF Jam: "Baby my baby, where are you now? Baby my baby, lost in the clouds". I must also make a special note to the new version of Rocket they play during the electric part of the acoustic set, as well as the really sweet different version of Beautiful. Boys Don't Cry is a cool Cure cover that James sings. Really great video, but unfortunatly he camera stays on Billy for most of the show. Boys Don't Cry is James doing the Cure song. Firestarter is a tease of the Prodigy song. Surprisingly no 1979, X.Y.U., or Silverfuck Jam. I actually got this boot because my girl friend was at the show, and I'm still looking for a video of it. Quality: B+ / ? min. / cd - DAT. 12/17/96 Sacramento, CA: Arco Arena mellon collie and the infinite sadness / tonight, tonight / rocket / fuck you (an ode to no ode) / by starlight / where boys fear to tread / zero / today / thru the eyes of ruby / porcelina of the vast oceans / slunk (tease) / galapogos / disarm / bullet with butterfly wings / muzzle / x.y.u. / 1979 / cherub rock Notes: I WAS AT THIS SHOW!!! 100 min. long, so it's just over one tape. Thirty-three has a really sweet guitar intro, so does Siva. Siva is a speed metal version with so many extra solos it's not even funny. Great show, but not the best looking video. Quality: ? / 110 min. / vid - Amateur Shot. 1/22/97 Toledo, OH: John F. Savage Hall mellon collie and the infinite sadness / the aeroplane flies high / jellybelly / tonight, tonight / rhinoceros / here is no why / zero / fuck you (an ode to no one) / porcelina-rocket / 1979 / music from our roots, music of the mountains / thirty-three / bullet with butterfly wings / muzzle / disarm / thru the eyes of ruby / bad moon rising (tease) / inna-gadda-da-vida (tease) / x.y.u. / drown-hummer / cherub rock / silverfuck jam (w/spiders) Notes: The only show where the song "Music from our roots, music of the mountains" is played. Before the acoustic 33, Billy says he wants to show the crowd what direction the band was going, and then goes into the short song. It's pretty cool, and sounds like a developed song, not just a tease or jam. Very powerful show, great Silverfuck Jam. Unfortunately there are weird mic problems that make the concert sound distant and the snare drum sounds funny. They opened for the Rolling Stones. Money is a Beatles cover. Every one of these songs are very different versions then what appeared on the album, or how they usually play them live. X.Y.U. sounds sort of like X.Y.U., with some X.Y.U. lyrics, but also has some completely new lyrics, and contains parts of The End is the Beginning is the End, and Where Boys Fear To Tread. All the unfamiliar songs are all new songs that will be on the new album, and the best thing is: They all Rock Ass!!! It's really cool hearing La Dolly Vita, I am one, Geek u.s.a., etc. and all the old greats that we love so much, after the greatly dissapointing Adore tour. I strongly recommend this to anyone, it's so cool hearing the new stuff, all the songs are awesome! Virex is an earlier version of The Imploding Voice. This was the first day of the 1999 Bridge School Benefit Concert, and they played under the name "Billy Corgan and James Iha" instead of the Smashing Pumpkins. It started out with just the two of them on stage, and later brought out special guest drummer Jimmy Chamberlin!!! All songs are acoustic. Stay is a U2 cover, and Ol' '55 is a Tom Waits cover. The Age of Innocence is a brand new song that Billy said he wrote about a week ago. I own this on CD-R or Professionally Shot video. I was at this show and it was great! After they played the U2 cover Stay, they introduced Jimmy onto the stage as the drummer from Deep Purple, and then played a quick little tease of Smoke on the Water. I thought the show was awesome, despite the crowds lack of interest in the new acoustic pumpkins tunes. I was very impressed by Ol' '55, with James on vocals. And the new song, The Age of Innocence is really cool too. Acoustic Glass sounded really good, and it was nice to hear them play an older tune as well. Great show, but unfortunatly, no D'arcy :( Quality: Aud or Vid: A / 31 min. / cd/vid -Soundboard/Pro Shot. 12/20/99 Chicago, IL: Cabaret Metro* pale scales / the everlasting gaze / glass' theme / heavy metal machine / tonight, tonight / stand inside your love / the crying tree of mercury / i of the mourning / glass + the ghost children / i am one / rock on / zero / to sheila / bullet with butterfly wings (cut) / disarm / 1979 / the age of innocence / cherub rock Notes: This is the first show with their new bassist, Melissa Auf Der Maur, and the first show of the highly anticipated Machina/the machines of God tour. Pale Scales is instrumental. Tonight, tonight, Zero, To Sheila, and BWBW are all cool new versions. Bullet is cut, and they played Ava Adore after it, but it's not on my recording. Jimmy plays acoustic guitar on 1979, and they use a drum machine. Rock On is a David Essex cover. X.Y.U. is a completely different version then the Mellon Collie version, and it includes a long story that Billy tells in the middle. The We Love You Jam is a new song that Billy pretty much just improvises the words to at each show. Very short show, what I'm guessing is that the Pumpkins stopped off at the Vicar Street Bar to have a few drinks on their way to Europe, and decide to grace the few fans with a rocking set. You can tell it's a small bar cause you can hear the individual fans in the crowd. Sounds very small, and the Pumpkins seem to play really freely, almost kinda sloppy (hmmm...maybe they did stop off for drinks). One of the most epic and long Machina shows I've heard of. Rock On through Glass' Theme are electric, then Billy says they'll be back in a half an hour. Speed Kills through Drown are all solo acoustic by Billy, then the rest of the band joins in for Crush and the cover of the Who's Join Together. The rest of the songs after that are electric again, and Once In a Lifetime is a SUPER rocking version of the Talking Heads song. Never Say Never is a tease of a Romeo Void song. Perfect sound and a killer setlist makes this one of my favorite shows. Quality: A- / ? min. / cd - Soundboard. 3/7/00 Seattle, WA: Columbia City Theater i of the mourning / rock on / heavy metal machine / today / blue skies bring tears / glass + the ghost children / stand inside your love / 1979 / join together Notes: Another great acoustic show from the Resume the Pose Tour. Quality: A- / ? min. / cd - DAT. 3/9/00 New York City, NY: Mtv Studios (video) the everlasting gaze / interviews with SP / i of the mourning / x.y.u. (tease) Notes: This is a half hour Mtv special. During the interviews there is a world premeire of the Crying Tree of Mercury interactive video and a section where online fans choose the 2nd song they will play. It turns out to be I of the Mourning, and they go right into the jam part of the new X.Y.U. after that. Just one bit of funny information I'd like to point out.... During the X.Y.U. tease, Billy pulls a kid from the front row who happens to be wearing the '666' shirt like the one Billy wears during the acoustic Cherub Rock from Vieuphoria, and hands him his guitar. Well, that kid is my exact double! He looks exactly like me down to the last detail. My hair is exactly the same and everything. When I first saw it all my friends thought it was actully me on TV with Billy! The only reason that I do not consider this one of my personal favorites is because it can be kind of annoying to watch at times because the interviewers translate everything the Pumpkins say. Wonderful show, band's in a great mood...they play many funny teases, the best of course being James' version of Gloria with Canada as the chorus. On May 23rd, Billy Corgan announced on KROQ in Los Angeles that the Smashing Pumpkins career will end after this tour. The show was incredibly beautiful and I don't think they could have rocked any harder, even considering the circumstances at hand. When I was there; I definitely felt a wierd sort of upset, empty, abandoned, mourning feeling from the crowd. I'm sure the majority of the people there had heard on the news that morning, and everyone I talked to was upset that the band had decided to finally quit. But everyone also had a lot of respect and care for the band's desicions, and want the Pumpkins to be happy with their lives always. This was the 2nd time I had seen Jimmy Chamberlin in concert, but the only time I got to hear him with the band electric. Myself, being a drummer and all, and Jimmy being the undisputed greatest percussionist in the histroy of mankind, made this show the most outstanding experience of my life to date (19 yrs.) I had no idea he was actually THAT good. It's completely different to see in person. (to any fan who hasn't seen jimmy: you poor, poor, unfortunate people). Of course I was sad that the Pumpkins couldn't have played everything for me at the show, but isn't every fan. The set that I saw was very nice, especially This Time, which has been among my favorite songs since the albums' release. Billy played it solo acoustic, and the entire crowd around me, along with myself, wept as we fully connected to the fact that the Pumpkins are no more, we will most likely never see them in concert again, and the song he was playing was about that - down to the last detail. To Sheila, This Time, Disarm, Try, Try, Try are acoustic. Once in a Lifetime is the Talking Heads cover, in which Billy improvises the lyrics during each show. The encore consisted of one song. The Pumpkins fooled around with a few San Francisco related teases before closing the show with the Drown. Seeing them for the last (hopefully not!!!) time and going out with that song was the most beautiful and sad thing I've ever experienced. It is a memory that will stay with me always. The show is started by Billy solo, and is later joined by James. Jimmy and Melissa join in the acoustic set for Glass, This Time, SIYL, and Disarm. They take a short break and come out for one of the most rocking sets of the tour. Highly recommended! The full concert (below) was really long, and Billy told stories behind some of the best Pumpkins songs. They only aired 6 and a half songs from the show, but I think they chose some really great ones. Very recommended, beautiful professional video. Quality: Vid: A / Aud: A / ? min. / vid - Pro Shot. 8/24/00 New York City, NY: Hammerstein Ballroom* introduction / intro jam / glass + the ghost children / today / snail / stand inside your love / to sheila / thirty-three / blue skies bring tears / try, try, try / the tale of dusty and pistol pete / 1979 / raindrops + sunshowers (abandoned) / raindrops + sunshowers / with every light (abandoned twice) / with every light / let me give the world to you (abandoned) / let me give the world to you / don't you want me (tease) / let me give the world to you (re-take) / glass + the ghost children (re-take) / zero (tease) / lounge improv / stand inside your love (re-take) Notes: There are segments between each song where Billy Corgan explains the story or history behind the meanings and the writing of all these songs. The whole thing fits on 3 CD's. At the end of the show they re-perform three of the songs that they think could have been stronger, had they been aired on TV. This concert is a must-have for any Pumpkins fan, an epic concert indeed. Quality: A / 148 min. / cd - Soundboard. It's got more of a 80's goth feel to it, but some of the songs are very reminiscent of the pre-gish stuff. Billy does not sing on all the songs, they were written and sung by him and the other guitarist. Not the best band I've heard, the demos can be pretty hard to listen to at times. But Billy's early song writing is really cool to hear. Fire is the Jimi Hendrix song, and I think The Way that I Do is a cover of someone too. Spiteface is the SP song...pretty cool to hear. Why David does not allow for the rest of the box to be traded on the internet is beyond me, but the one disc that did make it into circulation is really, really cool. All songs are from 1988-1992, some demos, some live. The quality tends to vary...mostly about an A-/B- / cd - various. Really cool great sounding disc. Most of the unfamiliar songs are from the Pastachio Medley, so as you may figure this CD was recorded sometime in 1994 after the Lollapallooza tour. For Martha is a completely different old version with the main riff played on distorted guitar! Recorded in "Pumpkinland", Chicago. 1st gen. / 1 disc / 68 min. / Quality: A- The Mellon Collie Demos/Billy's Home Demos* stumbleine / jupiter's lament / lily (my one and only) / to forgive / bullet with butterfly wings / here is no why / galapogos / instrumental / strolling-fools we are (1979 demo) / blank / rotten apples / ugly / wishing you were (here) mellon collie and the infinite sadness / meladori magpie / thirty-three / instrumental-beautiful / marquis in spades Notes: Most songs are solo acoustic by Billy Corgan. Instrumental, Strolling, and Beautiful include the whole band. This was recorded by Billy Corgan in late '94. Stumbleine, Jupiter, Blank, Rotten, and Meladori are all the versions that ended up on the offical releases. Quality: A / ? min. / 4 Track Demo Tape. Vieuphoria 2 (video) tonight, tonight / zero / where boys fear to tread / drown / in the arms of sleep / rocket / muzzle / siva / bullet with butterfly wings / thru the eyes of ruby / thirty-three / galapogos / bodies / porcelina-beautiful-rocket / x.y.u. / 1979 / the aeroplane flies high (turns left, looks right) / silverfuck jam medley / farewell and goodnight / interview Notes: This is not professionally done. It was made by some guy's on the internet. All songs are live from different places. There are interviews and things between the songs. Video: B- / Audio: B- / Some Pro, Some Amateur. The Machina Acoustic Demos* if there is a god / blue skies bring tears (arising) / wound (if you wait) / le deux machina (synth) / vanity / glass and the ghost children / autumn / drain / laugh / here i am / one less moment / let me give the world to you / blue skies bring tears (pt. 2) / speed kills (cut) Notes: Probably the best demos i've heard so far. Billy's singing is incredibly good and the unfamiliar songs are really great. Wound is a really different sweet version with different lyrics. Glass and the Ghost Children doesn't have the ghost children part, Billy just sings that part while still playing the Glass riff. Blue Skies Pt. 2 is a super cool slowed down version of the original song, with different lyrics. Autumn is instrumental. This was recorded in November of 1998 actually, in Billy Corgan's home in the Sadlands. It's a 1st generation from Billy's 4 track recordings! Very recommended! Quality: A / 1 CD / 45 min. * means it's my recommendation. Coming Soon (boots that are on the way). Please E-mail At Raging Day@aol.com to trade. Back To Main Page. |
